Frank, We all knew IS-136 was in the works but didn't know when it would be offered. Ira even stated in the CDMA forum he thought ATT would probaly drop it and the next day they offer it on a huge scale. Phones will be offered for 150 and up and service starts at 24.95 per month. They seemed pretty happy about what they were doing and will certainly be to market faster than others who are just testing systems. ATT's certainty may have caused some un-certainty amongst some QCOM holders and thus the sell off today. CNBC had two analysts on regarding the announcement. Mark Haines mentioned the technology battle has been going on for some time and he said we have CDMA , TDMA and B-CDMA. He asked the one guy if he approved of ATT choice. He said they have been working with it for a long time and the technology has proved itself. When asked about CDMA he mentioned that it still has to prove itself under a big load.
