I believe Climate Change is largely cyclical. Many researchers believe we're are moving into a solar minimum known as a Dalton Minimum (slightly less cool than the Little Ice Age Maunder Minimum) This could explain all the rain, as slight cooling drops the moisture out of that warm air you mention.
