I don’t recall ever reading any simple text that would explain the political structure of the Islamic Republic. Who is in charge? The government? The Ayatollahs? The IRGC? Kind of feels like this keeps changing all the time. Could it be that the Iranians themselves don’t know? It appears that the Revolutionary Guards are a state within the state, no one messes with them.
