I may have told you that I briefly dated a lady from Minneapolis )originally) who moved to the STL area. She told me that she was from a very liberal family but now she was conservative. Seeking to understand what caused this transformation - it was one word Somalis. Another aspect is that I assume the people you refer to are attempting to assimilate. This isn't true of all. No matter what the outcome, we need immigrants to learn the language, our history and government and integrate into society. Multiculturalism = tower of babel.
