Yes, there is no secret there. It is from being able to control and benefit from wealth produced around the world. No different in that regards than the empires that came before it. Wars destroy wealth but they also concentrate it in the hands of the victor. And as long as you can continue to steal wealth faster than you destroy it, you end up ahead.
