This gives a little background on Diamonds beliefs and it seems to me he is a whole lot less irrational .

Believe he did his PHD , on long range solar cycles , just as man made global warming got going . Could not get a job in his field anywhere . How would you feel about that ?

He chose to follow his beliefs when everyone was heading the opposite way .

So the 100 thous year cycle he admits has flaws but there is something there . On that bases his thinking is that the cold will be more than a Maunder .
