I plan on eating them every day, I need the calcium, as I do not want to go on Bisphosphonates. Way too many side effects with them. I talked to a lady in the store I shop every week, she had osteoporosis and was on them for 5 years, she said it was hell, the gut problems and pain they caused. She now has osteopenia and is on supplements for that. I just started drinking partially skim milk after about 20 years. I still need to get up to 1500 mg of calcium per day, thats all your body can absorb anyways.

I don't want to go through that, so my doctor has devised a plan to see if there is a improvement in my blood in 3 months (calcium and D). Another bone scan will happen in 3 years. If I am still here <g>

Anyways, my Great Grand father ate sardines everyday. He made it almost to his 90's. Those sardines on that site are high in sodium. The ones I have only have 140 mg of sodium per tin, and you can get even lower ones, 90 mg per tin on Amazon. My store does not sell those ones. So I will be buying them off Amazon.ca. The price is good as well.

What foods increase bone density?

Good sources of calcium include:

milk, cheese and other dairy foods
green leafy vegetables, such as broccoli, cabbage and okra, but not spinach
soya beans
tofu
soya drinks with added calcium
nuts
bread and anything made with fortified flour
fish where you eat the bones, such as sardines and pilchards
