6/28/2019 Contest update
Biotechs ended the week strong but Q2 remained a losing quarter for the sector. However, despite some rough days for Contest portfolios in Q2, the Contest median only fell about 1%.
At the Q2 close, the Contest median was up 21.91% YTD (vs. up 23.04% at the Q1 close), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 12.63% YTD (vs. up 15.40% at the Q1 close) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 21.90% YTD (vs. up 25.71% at the Q1 close), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 20.66% YTD (vs. up 16.49% YTD at the Q1 close).
Contest leader BULBA’s portfolio had another good run, closing the week with a 112.58% YTD gain. KMASTR’s portfolio, up 76.76% YTD, held on to second place and ANDRE’s portfolio, up 74.16% YTD, held on to third place.
At Friday's close, 32 of the 39 Contest portfolios were in the green, while 25 were still beating the NBI and 20 were beating the SPSIBI.
The 167 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 27.51% and a median YTD gain of 13.52%.
