Thanks to the spotlight of the presidency, state investigators now have the resources that they need to build a case against the Trumps. The Trump family’s biggest legal threat won’t come from federal prosecution, although that could occur once Trump leaves office. State charges are what could land under indictment and in prison. Attorney General James was correct. Trump isn’t above the law, and the presidency can’t protect him from a criminal indictment.
