Boeing is fucked


Hoping this wasn’t a fatal blunder and they bounce back.

It’s probably a bit too simplistic to think Boeing’s mistake was arrogance as some of the pundits have concluded. They’re way too smart, and had too much to lose to have risked everything for cheap software outsourcing.

More likely there was no one in the upper management who grasped that their company had fundamentally morphed - they are no longer in a purely aeronautical business but the computer/software industry instead. That’s become the central nervous system, the most important component and they didn’t recognize it in time.

A great management book may come out of this.
