Got this notice yesterday from Sony's PlayStation Vue stream service:

This will increase my monthly bill for PS Vue to $60.71 (including sales tax) for the Core Package. They add 10.4% sales tax to what will be a $54.99/mo. charge, I'm lucking enough to live in an area with the highest sales tax in the state when local taxes are added in.

Prices for streaming packages are getting ever closer to cable and satellite prices. Cord cutters that use one aren't likely saving as much money per month as they used to. You can get no-contract deals with some cable companies, they just charge more.

One big advantage streaming packages still have over traditional cable or satellite is there are no contracts, it's month-to-month and you can cancel whenever you like. With cable, or at least Xfinity/Comcast where I am, you sign at least a one year contract with a cable package, after which they jack up your prices again and you have to renegotiate or take whatever current deals they offer. I really hate that and I think most people do.

That said, I'm going to be looking over Comcast's offerings and see what they have, and ask if they'll give a contract longer than a year.
