Sam: I agree with you. However, we can be wrong. Market may have seen this to be the worst worst quarter for SEG, QNTM and WDC. SEG is trying to regroup by closing plant, laying off 10000 people, bringing up new products. The first two will help all three.
And, maybe, there are other reasons. Adaptec had a bad quarter and said that one of its Korean customers couldn't get LC approved by bank and caused about 30 million (?) revenue short fall for the quarter. I guess this Korean customer to be Samsung. Samsung uses Adaptec chip in their HDD. If this continues, Samsung may have to sell up its HDD inventory and reduce (or stop) producing because of inability to buy parts. On the OEM (box makers) front, there may be something going on that is helping US HDD makers.
I guess we have to watch carefully.
