It's old data, Neo. It reflects the stagnant growth of the last years of the Obama administration when there weren't enough jobs available. Those numbers will start rolling off now.

The country was hitting record low unemployment numbers pretty quickly after the election and that kind of news started flashing across CNN in every impoverished Latin American county as soon as it occurred. The monthly numbers of attempted border crossings have been steadily increasing for awhile but the MSM wasn't reporting them. Nevertheless, we were all warned by Trump this was coming and now it's here in all its ugliness.

The media will obfuscate the warnings away. Then the media will stand things on its head and convince you that the mess Trump warned you about is somehow all Trump's fault.
When that happens you might want to ask yourself exactly what is the horrible thing Trump did that caused tens of thousands of people to suddenly want to live in America? Seriously. How bizarre is it that anyone would try to blame Trump when all along he's been asking for money to build a wall, hire more border agents, hire more judges to evaluate the asylum requests, and he asked for changes in the asylum laws. Changing the asylum laws would do a lot to stem the tide.

But that's history and my guess is that border security is now hopeless.
It seems to me that Dems might want to start asking themselves how many immigrants are too many? All of your candidates raised their hands in support of decriminalizing illegal border crossings. If you decriminalize something, isn't that tantamount to legalizing it? Are you prepared to ask the top 20% who pay almost all the federal taxes now to pay more so that we can bring in an unlimited number of people and also give them full medical care?

And if you do that, how many mid and upper-middle class white Democrats will quietly ease their way out of the party?

My last question is this. If illegal border crossings are decriminalized, what should be done about the hundreds of thousands of people who have filled out the paperwork and have been patiently waiting for legal entry to this country. A lot of these people are educated, and some may have been students here and already have some training and command of the language.
