Someone already may have mentioned this new article by an old chemist, but I just saw it:

K.R.Brower. 1998. Anomalous Gold. Skeptical Inquirer, vol. 22, no. 1 (Jan/Feb 1998), pp. 39-40.

Article on " 'Ghost gold' eludes old-fashioned fire assaying but is snared by modern ghost busting prospectors wielding doodle bugs" includes mention of David Hudson, ORMEs, AA, fire assay, "radio frequency induction", etc. Author is listed as professor emeritus of chemistry at New Mexico Tech, Socorro, NM 87801.
