William, I sincerely believe your gut feeling will fail you in regards
to LSCC's earnings. I have read over four large brokerage reports
on LSCC which rate the lscc a strong buy and who believe earnings will
meet or beat (granted these reports were all from Aug...before XLNX
announcement.)

LSCC missed earnings last qtr and their shareholders got hammered. I
think mgt will make every legimate attempt to ensure earnings are
there. From reviewing SEC filings from LSCC, top mgt has a
significant vested interest in options riding on their ability to come
through this qtr.

I did a search on Techweb and read an article from the EE Times which
took a consensus opinion on LSCC from wall street analysts who all
concurred that earnings would meet. I think XLNX had problems last
qtr but did not recognize them in the june qtr in hopes of a killer
summmer. I think LSCC took any adjustments on earnings last qtr to
have a strong 2nd half finish.

I think the upcoming BTB will show significant improvement over last
month's data (.94 is my guess.) This news will help boost share
price next week before earnings. If we get a decent improvement in
the BTB, I believe that even if LSCC misses by a penny or two, there
will be enough optimism about future earnings to take the stock well
into the mid thirties.
