I called Bud Rat this morning, cuz we were getting flown by a black chopper. Herb called me back, and said it was prolly the National Guard. They're taking pictures, and plotting them against permits. Apparently they're really gonna drop the hammer on all the bootleg growers this year, using multiple agencies.

He told me they don't have a total breakdown, but they grew over $1M here, and grossed over $7M; I think about 40% went to fees and taxes. They're expecting $10M this year, and $50M next year. The county changed the regs again, and will permit 1 acre grows. He has 7 acres of ag land in the valley east of me. He's planning on 2 acres of greenhouses and 5 open. Says the ground is so good and the water table so high that you might just be able to plant and stand back.

I don't know how Bud and Mary Jane did, but Herb figures he made $800/hr last year.
