And some of those removable cartridge disks were tough as nails. At Scripps I had an RK05 cartridge that had all the software ready for a sea trip and once when inserting it something was misaligned and I actually bent the platter while forcing it in. It was mission critical and my boss was going to kill me if I told him we weren't ready to sail on schedule. I removed the platter, flattened the bent rim in a vise(!) and stuck it back in to copy it. It made a hell of a lot of noise with the heads slapping off the surface, but I got my programs copied to another drive.

I don't think I told anyone about it until I after the operation was a success...
