It is a euphimism for selling, either to raise cash
or to redirect the cash into other stocks or asset
classes such as commodities (i.e. pork belly futures
and gold), foreign exchange (i.e the zloty or ringit),
bonds (i.e. short maturity Japanese bonds with below
two percent coupons), sovereigns (i.e. Malaysian
government debt) or other risk-averse stocks like Oxford
Health and Seagate.

Seriously, I do think that the size of the blocs traded
suggest funds may have been selling, whether the move was
prompted by institutional repositioning or just locking in
profits. But why would a fund dump on a market down day
instead of selling into strength? And who did the buying
anyway, retail?
