"Sorry.. you are wrong"

if i'm wrong, please explain this...

here's a chart stating percentage of gdp spent on the military per country.

photius.com

iceland is just one step above somalia (0% gdp) with 0.1 percent.

"Average Salary in Iceland

The average salary in Iceland is slightly higher than the minimum wage set by the Federation of General and Special Workers. Currently, average wages in the country are of roughly 410,000 ISK net per month. Notice that the average salary in Iceland figures are net, while the minimum wage mentioned above is gross.

The average salary of 410,000 ISK per month (approximately 32500 USD) puts Iceland’s figures among the highest salaries in Europe. Even if the cost of living in the country is high, the purchase power still makes of Iceland an attractive place to be an employee."

if iceland has no standing army, and only spends 0.1% of its gdp on the military, how can they have a currency that is paying them the equivalent $32k in USD a month? with such low military spending, shouldn't their currency be just about worthless? i mean, they practically have no military power at all.

it's easy to explain why our currency isn't high, but why is theirs SO high? just about the highest in europe and just about no military at all.

there are lots more examples to make, i just picked what looked like the most egregious one.

the point is that there's no logical way to explain why military power would ever give currency its value. it has nothing to do with it.
