It's a good move to have a unified UI among Adobe apps. There is a high percentage of user who own both PhotoShop and Illustrator and there is no reason for the 2 apps to have different UI and different keyboard shortcut.
However, Illustrator should have provided an option (in preference setting) to switch back to the old keyboard shortcuts for those users who don't care to change.
Unified UI will also help Adobe to the strategy of a graphic suite (same as Microsoft's Office suite having the similar UI between Word, Excel...).
