donsurber.blogspot.com Highlights of the News

Good morning. Donald John Trump is still your president. Heckle and Jeckle are not.

ITEM 1: The Associated Press misreported, "Starkly injecting race into his criticism of liberal Democrats, President Donald Trump said Sunday that four congresswomen of color should go back to the 'broken and crime infested' countries they came from, ignoring the fact that all of the women are American citizens and three were born in the U.S. His attack drew a searing condemnation from Democrats who labeled the remarks racist and breathtakingly divisive."

There was no mention of race in his tweets, and he did not tell them to go anywhere. I posted the tweets in full on Sunday.

But the Red State/National Review/Ricochet crowd took the vapors and collapsed on their fainting couches to protest his tweets.

Grownups know better.

Glenn Reynolds said, "Trump is pointing out that these 'it' girls are ungrateful asses who don’t like America. By not naming them, he’s forcing their defenders, and his critics, to admit that they’re ungrateful asses who don’t like America before they can even talk about the issue. This isn’t hard. But if you want more, there’s this way of putting it: All the Democrats have to do is not be crazy, and Trump’s making it impossible for them to do that."

Even after four years of drubbings by The Donald, the experts and the elitists still bitterly cling to the notion that President Trump does not know what he is doing is.

ITEM 2: The Wall Street Journal reported, "U.S. manufacturers are shifting production to countries outside of China as trade tensions between the world’s two biggest economies stretch into a second year.

"Companies that make Crocs shoes, Yeti beer coolers, Roomba vacuums and GoPro cameras are producing goods in other countries to avoid U.S. tariffs of up to 25% on some $250 billion worth of imports from China. Apple Inc. also is considering shifting final assembly of some of its devices out of China to avoid U.S. tariffs."

These relocations may not all be back to the USA but they show long-term damage to Red China's economy. Chairman Xi and the rest of the communists do not understand capitalism as well as they believe they do. Donald John Trump is giving them a very expensive lesson.

ITEM 3: Emily Jane Fox reported, "In the months before he ran for president, Donald Trump was in conversation with National Enquirer owner David Pecker about his old acquaintance, Jeffrey Epstein, and how his sexual abuse scandal might affect the Clintons. 'Trump said that Pecker had told him that the pictures of Clinton that Epstein had from his island were worse,' recalls a former Trump Organization employee."

Epstein's pedophilia was public knowledge. He had been convicted in 2008 of sex crimes. His connection to Bill Clinton was less widely known.

That President Trump brought in as labor secretary the man who prosecuted Epstein -- however lightly -- is telling.

Epstein's guilt or innocence is immaterial. He did his time and kept his trap closed in 2008. Who else goes down this time is the story. Democrats would gladly give up Clinton for exoneration of everyone else who rode the Lolita Express.

ITEM 4: Emily Saul reported, "Jeffrey Epstein’s cell is 3 doors down from El Chapo."

One thing I like about her newspaper, the New York Post, is its old-fashioned straight-forward coverage of the courts and crime stories.

But really, should El Chapo be held that close to such a horrible man?

ITEM 5: NBC reported, "The latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows enthusiasm for impeachment may be waning and that could leave the Democrats’ 2020 hopefuls with a voter base that sees things differently and a complicated issue to tackle as their primary campaign revs up."

21% support impeachment. Last month, 27% did.

Obama's strategy of a full-court press on President Donald John Trump backfired.

Instead of a peaceful transition of power, Obama planted a dossier on Mister Trump which led to the Mueller investigation.

The Deep State openly opposed presidential orders in a bureaucratic mutiny. Democrats (and Republicans) slow-walked Cabinet appointments. The press picked on every little thing the president did.

But after nearly three years, Donald Trump not only survives but thrives. The economy booms. Our adversaries cower. Mexico protects our border.

At the same time, his opponents are exhausted. They are emotionally drained. Democrats are the party of impeachment, which appeals to but 21% of the people.

A peaceful transition of power would have helped the party heal but the party is stuck on 8 NOV 2016. I hope it stays stuck for the rest of my life.

ITEM 6: BBC reported, "Donald Trump abandoned the Iran nuclear deal to spite Barack Obama, according to a leaked memo written by the UK's former ambassador in the US.

"Sir Kim Darroch described the move as an act of 'diplomatic vandalism,' according to the Mail on Sunday."

Sir Kim protested to make sure everyone read this.

The idea is to blame President Trump -- not Obama -- for a deal gone sour.

However, Iran's deal is also with Britain and other nations. Iran had no intention of keeping its word. Obama knew it.

ITEM 7: Axios reported on a "poll taken in May, before Speaker Pelosi's latest run-in with AOC and the three other liberal House freshmen known as The Squad — included 1,003 likely general-election voters who are white and have two years or less of college education."

The results show why Pelosi is dumping on them.

Axios said, "Ocasio-Cortez was recognized by 74% of voters in the poll; 22% had a favorable view. Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — another member of The Squad — was recognized by 53% of the voters; 9% (not a typo) had a favorable view."

AOC is the soul of the Democrat Party. To win in 2020, Democrats must win back some supporters of President Trump. If Democrats succeed in jettisoning AOC and company, they will alienate many of the voters who got the, the House in 2018.

That victory is looking more Pyrrhic by the day.

ITEM 8: Red State reported Democrat Congresswoman "Ayanna Pressley Comes Within Inches Of Calling The Congressional Black Caucus Oreos."

She's black. She's one of the Four Horse Women of Color bringing the Demopocalypse.

Her actual quote on the caucus was, "We don’t need any more brown faces that don’t want to be a brown voice. We don’t need any more black voices that don’t want to be a black voice."

Pressley worked her way up the political ladder on the staff of Congressman Joe Kennedy II and Senator John Kerry, who are both authentic voices of communities of color.

ITEM 9: The Hindu reported, "India lifted 271 million people out of poverty between 2006 and 2016, recording the fastest reductions in the multidimensional poverty index values during the period with strong improvements in areas such as assets, cooking fuel, sanitation and nutrition, a report by the United Nations said.

"The 2019 global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) from the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) was released on Thursday.

"The report said that in the 101 countries studied — 31 low income, 68 middle income and 2 high income — 1.3 billion people are multidimensionally poor, which means that poverty is defined not simply by income, but by a number of indicators, including poor health, poor quality of work and the threat of violence."

Capitalism is the greatest anti-poverty program invented by man. India's embrace of capitalism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lifted people up. They rewarded him with a landslide re-election victory.

India will surpass Red China in a decade or so because the communist regime cannot continue its facade of capitalism much longer. President Trump is rallying the world in a trade war that will end in the collapse of Chairman Xi's regime.

Modi is savvy enough not to poke the polar bear.

ITEM 10:

Be less than graphic in comments, please.

ITEM 11: TMZ reported, "MI6 special agent 007 is getting a new face -- and, apparently, a new gender too ... because actress Lashana Lynch is reportedly set to take on the mantle in the upcoming Bond flick.

"According to multiple outlets in the UK, the 'Captain Marvel' star -- who played Brie Larson's best air force pal in the 2019 blockbuster -- will become the new 007 in what is being described as a 'popcorn-dropping moment' in the franchise's 25th installment."

So 007 will be a black woman. Thor is a woman now. Ghost Busters are women. Ho hum.

When are women -- particularly women of color -- going to achieve real equality and become super villains? The villains are always far more interesting than the heroes.

Imagine Whoopi Goldberg as Goldfinger. Queen Latifah would make a great Hannibal Lector. Halle Berry is 52, the same age Jack Nicholson was when he played The Joker.

ITEM 12: Mary Papenfuss reported, "Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) said she blames Russian bots for helping stir up the frenzy that Donald Trump, then a candidate for president, helped set off over Colin Kaepernick taking a knee during the national anthem at National Football League games.

"Now, she said, the bots are coming after her. 'We already know we are' being targeted, the presidential candidate said Friday on the New York radio show The Breakfast Club."

The Russian bots are coming to take her away, haha. They're coming to take her away.

ITEM 13: Douglas MacKinnon wrote, "NYC is a warning -- the blackout is coming."

No. Just no. I live in Poca, West Virginia, across the river from a humongous power plant and we get outages several times a year. Sometimes just long enough to have to reset the clocks. Sometimes 8 hours.

He is like those guys predicting a stock market crash. They do it all the time.

Our electric grid is not ancient. Power companies spend a small fortune on upgrades and maintenance. Compare that to government maintenance of roads.

Outages happen.

And when you look out your window sweating with the lights and AC off and watch the steam billow from the cooling towers, you either laugh or cry. I choose the former.

ITEM 14: Dr. Manny Alvarez reported, "Pvt. Shamika Burrage lost her entire left ear during a car accident on her way to visit family in Texas, says a report from the U.S. Army. The soldier needed counseling to deal with her emotions after the accident, including dealing with discontentment about the way she looked.

"At the urging of her counselor, Burrage looked into plastic surgery for the missing ear. That’s when she found surgeons at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) who had a radical idea.

"The medical team wanted to use cartilage from Burrage’s ribs to form a new, non-artificial ear. The ear would then need to 'grow' under the skin of the soldier’s arm before transplanting could take place."

Military doctors often are portrayed as a bunch of Frank Burnses. But they have been part of the vanguard in limb replacement and now ear replacement.

Now for the pun.

Those doctors are ear-replaceable.

ITEM 15: My weekend posts included:

Media bullies cheer censorship.

Donald Trump: the cleanest man in DC.

Discovering Hispanics don't care about illegals.

The tweeticide of Ilhan Omar.

Mo Dowd tries to put down AOC, and fails.

And of course, Highlights of the News, which is part of your complete breakfast. The other parts are coffee and a donut.

Oh, and don't forget my books are on sale in paperback and on Kindle.
