If the States would follow the NYS model and offer free public college tuition for families earning under 125K a year, there would not be a college loan problem moving forward. The Republican NYS Senate passed the free college tuition bill in 2017. In Nevada, community college is free. Nevada in many ways is a progressive state. No State income tax. Live and let live.
