We've been seeing a lack of confidence in our political leaders since Nixon and Watergate, I think that escapade set the whole thing into motion back then.

On Clinton, I think this is just headline news and more political hay making. The administrative economic policies haven't changed just because Clinton is, or is not, a womanizer. IMHO, these are political issues unrelated to the question of corporate earnings. For sure, deep political unrest leads to civil unrest. And civil and social unrest leads to economic unrest and civil reprisals, but I don't see a 60's type reaction because of Clinton's problems as yet. I think the markets will shrug off this news within a day or two and move on to other more relevant matters, like the Asian disaster. Remember, in confusion there's a profit to be made.
