No matter which camp you are in, it seems perfectly reasonable to balk at the idea of socializing past debts incurred by individuals. For sure, asking society to help pay for the education of individuals in the past (ie retro-actively) is quite a bit different than asking society to help pay for the education of individuals in the future. Or healthcare or whatever.
