They used to call Boeing the Lazy B years ago because when they had no work for their engineers to do, they simply kept them on and told them to take it easy.

An ex-girlfriend's father worked for Boeing his entire career, and for one period of time he was one of those who had nothing to do. They told him just to bring a novel to work and read it, so that's what he did. Sat in a room all day and read a novel.
