yes - they have competitors, check out the summary of verity in SI.

The key differentiator is that they are focused on corporate intranets and forming strategic alliances with key industry players. The chance of a buyout is possible but i think the stock would do better on its own as the future is very bright. I think Dennis McEvoy joining from Sybase is a plus - say what you might about Sybase, he is a key industry player and should propel Verity to the next level. since the stock has been severly punished i think new alliances can propel the price towards high teens quickly. A earnings upside which is highly likely will clear us over $20 - a nice christmas gift for us all.

The fundamentals of Verity remain the same as when it was $57 a share. If anything the market for intranet/Intrenet search and a leading cross platform provider aligned with Netscape/Informix/et. al
is even better.
