The defense budget this past year was 976B. We can make massive cuts there. We can also make big cuts to the Federal college merit and non merit based scholarship's program since free college tuition will be offered for families earning under 125K. Moreover, payments to physicians will be reduced. The days of surgeons making 500K a year will be over too. And there is plenty of room to reduce drug pricing. Opponents will ask who will want to become a physician under this scenario? Plenty, since the costs of college education and Med school will be reduced.
You say the NYS Republican plan was not enough? It was meant for middle income families.

Raise the tax on oil, gas, cigarettes and liquor. Increase car registration costs. Tax billionaires, not millionaires. Having a million or two with a family of 4 or 5 makes one middle income, believe it or not. Maybe tax those whose income is 50M or more.
Tax on trades will not fly in the Midwest. America is anti-tax. Dumb progressives don't get that. And the people who work for companies and industry have 401Ks. They will flip out on a expense increase on their 401Ks. Most of the electorate supports single payer so they will buy into a tax increase there.
