Why do some liberals vehemently loathe Trump?

What, today you mean?

Meet Nadia Murad, a Yazidi woman who was taken captive by ISIS, raped, tortured, and managed to escape, later becoming an advocate on behalf of her people and victims of similar atrocities. Most of her family was rounded up in the raid in which she was captured, with her male relatives executed and buried in a mass grave and her female relatives either killed or sold into sex slavery, never to be seen again.
She explained this to the President, explaining the danger the remaining Yazidis in Iraq are still facing — half a million displaced persons caught in the middle of an ongoing territorial dispute between the Kurdish Regional Government and the government in Baghdad, both vying for control over the Yazidi peoples’ ancestral homeland.
Trump bore an expression of utter boredom throughout, avoiding eye contact and keeping his back turned. After she finished recounting the horrors and losses she had faced to the President, explaining that most of her family was missing or dead, Trump asked where her family was now seconds later as though he hadn’t even been listening, prompting her to repeat that ISIS had killed them.
The biggest takeaway I got from the interview is that he’s jealous of her Nobel Peace Prize, which was the only other thing he asked about — specifically asking why it had been awarded to her.
The man is an embarrassment, plain and simple.

He could not afford to let his base see him take a serious, or even a feigned, interest in what she had to say. It is part of the package they voted for and elected-that he demonstrate cruelty and indifference. He knows exactly what he’s doing. His disinterest is real, but making certain it is on display is what sets him apart.

He did turn and check her out when she said she had been raped. I guess to see if she was “his type”.
Such a classy individual. |
