Will Anyone Buy Novell??? ...not the usual suspects As we watch the stock on slow crawl, and wait for the market to make its next move, and hope Marengi will produce the numbers, how about a "takeover break". My candidates are Dell or Compaq. Hardware companies selling Intel boxes and wanting to get a bigger piece of the web server business through software acquisition and hardware sales. A second tier company seeking to be competitive with an HP or Sun in the next generation of Intel boxes. A hostile takeover with all stock no cash. A variation---Dell makes a move followed by HP the white knight. For those of you that believe a takeover will rescue Novell stockholders, Thanksgiving is coming and I have my New Yorker turkey cartoon, the one where the turkey is dreaming of a white Christmas, and the caption reads "dream on"....Want a copy?
