Carol, Put a picture on the WEB:
There is a lot of ways. Some brief descriptions:
Scan a photo in on a scanner. You need a scanner or access to one. Once scanned save it as a GIF or JPEG file. Your IPS should have gave you some free web space, if not it should not cost very much to rent some.
Upload you photo to the that space of yours and then your done. If you want someone to see the photo, you have to specify the address. It could be a numbered address like 207.209.222.....etc or a name like www.internetprovider.com/webspace/carolstuff/wolfphoto.gif
This is only a very brief description. Don't put it off, learn NOW, it is EASY, and FUN. If you are using Netscape or Internet Explorer, depending on the version, you will have the software inside already to get your stuff on the web, but not to scan.
Or you can "FTP" it up to the web space using the FTP command (File Transfer Protocol) in a DOS box in Windows, and once you have entered you user name & password, you would use the "PUT" command to upload it to the web server (your directory on that server). The "PUT" command is a Unix command. All depends on how their system is set up.
This may seem complicated, it's NOT. Call your ISP, they can also help you. Like I said it's a peice of cake. |
