Am at JFK waiting to board for Moscow. The kids are amusing themselves and wife tuned out.
Upon arrival the comrades shall whisk us to some heritage abode where once upon a time the kids grand-dada and great-grand-dada both stayed at. The arrangement is made so that the kids can soak up the atmosphere of rebellion and tune-in to the spirit of insurrection :0) and to experience proper Russian food culture.
W/r to Hong Kong, am following the news flow closely enough, and checking 0388.HK (HKEX - Hong Kong stock exchange finance.yahoo.com ) so far all okay, not too hot, and not too cold)
Am generally supportive of the youth letting off some steam before they realise that housing cost does not go down because they cannot pay, and whatever other beef they have, they don’t, except one, that the mainland non-central (aka provincial, municipal, county, township, village) authorities must not be enabled to be able to grab anyone they want from Hong Kong, even as the central authorities must be unobstructed to grab whomever they want.
Other than above one legitimate beef, the youth best learn mandarin and then go get a useful job. Cry-baby-ing does not result in savings to afford starter homes.
Approve the youth sending message to Hong Kong authorities that the officialdom must be kept fearful of the youths and their elders. Full stop.
Appreciate the authorities are working out the big hands behind the organisation (so many helmets and shirts of same colour, all new, do not magically appear on the streets w/o organisation) of perhaps 700 black shirts and 200 white shirts. The authorities will find out, and retribution shall be swift, against the dark hands, per will of the taxi drivers and shopkeepers, my weather vane.
Hong Kong is a small village. There are leads to the obvious culprits, and they are identifiable individuals - as good as done now that the gloves are off, and their takedowns would be for the greater good. What we see in the open no longer matters.
The entire exercise shall be educational, and possibly of percuniary advantage.
