I picked my Mom up at the Denver airport last week after she flew from the San Francisco Bay Area.

My Mom was amazed that the airline let her board first simply because she's 88 years old.

I already take advantage of the 'senior specials' everywhere - what a hoot! I'll start welfare from Social Security when I'm 70 when the payment is larger, but I can sign up for Medicare and a Blue Shield Medicare Supplement plan and Part D in only 8 months. What a bonanza! Très beaucoup moins cher que l'assurance maladie normale, et alors ce n'est pas le Canada.

My 90 year old Dad didn't go to my niece's wedding in Winter Park because his vascular dementia has progressed very quickly in the last four months, leading him to move to an Alzheimer's facility nearby his home with a fairly hefty $5,600 a month rent. My Mom visits him every day. He knows he knows her, loves her and he says she's pretty, but he doesn't really know who she is beyond that.

I found an MP3 player and my nephew is loading my Dad's CDs onto the memory chip. It has only two controls. Lift the handle to play music and put it down to stop it, and push the button underneath to skip to the next song. Over the past month he's lost most of his ability to talk coherently.
