Univec showing some nice action of late - up 25% today. The January announcements are likely out soon.
OFF TOPIC - Stan: sorry about the delay (I still don't have time to give you my full interpretation of the D2 receptor/RXR-RAR PNAS paper. Soon)
The Kendel and Schwartz Text is Principles of Neural Science. Its huge and comprehensive on a superficial, introductory level. Reading biomedical textbooks in your spare time? How rarefied.
My comments about Dr. Dale referred to his integrity, although I'm sure his work is of an equal caliber. How did arrive at my opinion?
I read his posts.
Two of many possible examples: 1) I was impressed with his short-lived attempt to create a truly diverse biotech thread where real science was discussed. He would hold a forum each evening - in this neutral setting - to discuss the science behind various companies. {It appears to have been very successful since I recall reading somewhere it reached numero uno on the Hot Subject list}. Then Niman came along and killed it.
2) Following the news of my father's Parkinson's, he was the ONLY one on SI suggesting, no, demanding, that I travel far from SI to learn about the disease. At first I was surprised since there appeared to be a lot of info here, however disorganized. But I've come to understand his point: SI posters refer back to SI because 1) in some bizarre way it appears to justify the amount of time they waste here; 2) for many, SI is the only science they know (!) and most importantly 3) SI is and always will be about money. And given the opportunity, people will send you on a trail, using whatever convoluted logic, to the investment they're currently sleeping with. Dr. Dale also implicitly understood that the best thing I could do for myself would be to gain knowledge - plain bookish nuts and bolts - so that my father's trust in my judgement would be firmly grounded
He also does his homework (and reports back in a concise way, asking for second opinions): Message 2974027 [Notice how he consolidated the data from each paper into the concept of the last sentence of each paragraph. Notice how those fit together. Show me one other person on the entirety of SI can do that with such intelligence and clarity]
As an exercise in contrast, have you ever associated the words 'concise' and 'second opinion' with Niman? 'nuf. CW |
