Was I the only one?

I have to confess, I had this very exercise in 6th grade with Mr. Kraus. We had to complete a limerick:

There were 25 fish in the pool
who set out to find a new school

I was always a wise ass, one nun described as mischievous "but I have a hard time punishing because you remind me of a puppy". So I got in trouble occasionally.

So my last 3 lines were:

They jumped and they jumped
until one said "hey Chump"
Our teacher has a head like a spool.


Now, we had to read these out loud. Everyone roared except the teacher Mr K. who came to my desk and smacked me (Catholic school) and told me that I had a head like an eggplant.

The recital continued student by student until another kid's last line was "because their teacher was very, very cruel". Recital was abolished and we had to study Geography or other such nonsense.

He must have been a liberal
