Beautiful ... your soil looks quite rich too, lots of organics, that's an important trick with garlic imho ... if nothing else it keeps the soil open so that roots can go very deep quickly and easily, but of course they're feeding on it as well ... have you ever tried coffee grounds? ... the filters need to be composted but the grounds themselves can go directly to soil, work them in deep and earthworms love them, then most plants love earthworm manure

One thing i did right this year was allow more room per clove, something like 7-7.5in instead of 6in approx, or 5in minimum with small cloves [i don't actually measure, beyond guesstimating by handspan] ... they definitely did better, plus after they were up a few inches i top-dressed with some feather meal a friend gave me, then mulched with 3-4in of well-rotted horse manure, of which i still have mountains ... then was more regular with watering in may and june, than i had been last year ... so with what i got planted in december, the product is great, the thing is there isn't much of it ... some i planted as late as the first days of march, and it's doing surprisingly well, but i just pulled a few and they're all two or three cloves, i think maybe they sense they don't have much time so have to channel resources into less progeny ... all told i put in maybe a quarter of my peak year, which would have been 2009 if memory serves

ssl.to - saw your comment on CD's thread - actually ssl did have quite a gain early on, it just attracted selling is all, and it's done fair well lately ... four sessions to go before they report Q2, it wouldn't surprise me if it printed ten loonies first

Any idea why there would be 20m shorts on Sandstorm? ... 2m more than there were a few weeks ago, as they show on the left side of this page - ceo.ca

... info is probably correct, or somebody would have objected by now ... but why? ... there are only five million of the ssl.wt, so they could be at most a quarter of the explanation [less actually, because all the considerable ssl.wt i hold is quite unhedged] ... one presumes that all parties act according to carefully considered reasons, i just can't imagine what they'd be in this case ... a 'cunning plan' perhaps [for those unfamiliar with Blackadder you can check youtube for the quote] ... bottom line - those are shares that will at some point need to be bought?
