Actually, it's like talking about the method by which you project a movie on the screen versus the inability to project. I hear what you are saying insofar as the service itself is concerned, but the point of RoadRunner and @Home are way high-speed data transfers so that you can click on audio and video material to watch and listen as well as read. AOL is not an Internet-based service but that is for historical versus technical reasons. AOL will not be able to compete with these high-speed services and what will likely happen is that they will upgrade their technology to use standard Internet-based interfaces. In other words, you will be able to join AOL without going through their proprietary, excruciatingly slow, network.
