8/9/2019 Contest update
Following the mass murders in El Paso and Dayton, it was a difficult week to pay attention to the stock market. Hopefully, this time, the response will be more than “thoughts and prayers” and effective gun control legislation will be enacted.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 12.31% YTD (vs. up 15.17% a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 8.84% YTD (vs. up 8.45% a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 16.59% YTD (vs. up 16.55% a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 19.95% YTD (vs. up 20.63% YTD a week ago).
BULBA’s portfolio remained Contest leader with a 98.50% YTD gain. ANDRE’s portfolio, up 57.29% YTD, moved into second place and OHMS’ portfolio, up 55.43% YTD, slipped to third place.
At Friday's close, 27 of the 39 Contest portfolios were now in the green, while 22 were beating the NBI and 18 were beating the SPSIBI.
The 167 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 16.42% and a median YTD gain of 3.56%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe & relaxing weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
