My stay in San Francisco was at a heritage place downtown, and our lodging in NYC was across the road from Empire State Building, hotel in Moscow had view of the Red Square, in St Petersburg had who-is-who, and so our lodging in Suzhou was deliberately simple, per what Jack described - "dada, can we not have a schedule in Suzhou and I get up when I wake up?"
The immediate environs of the heritage hotel in SF was filthy
NYC 5th avenue 33rd - 34th street and beyond was filthy
Moscow was clean and St Petersburg was super, the entire cities
Suzhou unclear, because I did not leave the everyday neighbourhood, but what I saw seemed quite okay
Shall wait for the coconut's report on Shanghai, but I suspect also okay
I understand there are rubber bullets and tear gas being fired in parts of HK, even as my neck of the seashore and fishing village are as friendly and calm as ever
I attach no politico-socio-economic significance to any of above observations, just watch & brief
At the St Pete's lodging Lenin and Clinton and Woody Allen all once stayed, some may not be politically correct ever, once, or now

comrade Jinping and Tony Blair - spot the un-PC one

Rumsfeld beat up to the hotel, but we made it here before Trump

but not before Putin

did get pipped by Giuliani

Will Smith is okay still, and maybe Catherine Deneuve still PC, unsure
