I hope everyone noticed that this DSL announcement from MSFT/CPQ/INTC happend right on the day of earnings. CPQ played it smart - their stock only just met expectations and they needed a boost. So they split the stock, declared the pacific basin crisis over, and announced the DSL agreement as though this was growth in itself. It will fade quickly into obscurity but it got CPQ through the day with a rise in value and the talking heads on TV loved it.

On the AOL discussion, note that AOL has its problems. YAHOO has started offering a lot of what AOL has and it is for free (stock market quotes and portfolios, discussion threads, etc). And you don't have to click off 5 different ads before you get to use the service. Many people think YAHOO will beat AOL in the long run. Try looking up information on AOL. Click a url in AOL and you have to go through AOL to get to the web site you want to see (so they can keep the taxi meter running), etc. etc.
