I bought a 3dfx chip in the form of a Diamond Monster 3d card several months ago (before I even knew the company was publically traded). I tried to buy it through a mail-order OEM for about $160, but they were out of stock. It had been hyped up to me so much that I proceeded to go to CompUSA and buy it for $200 (with box, manuals, etc). In any case, the mail-order house notified me that they were back in stock about 4 days later.

The card is amazing - and most of my techie friends have bought one. Doubtful we would upgrade to a Voodoo 2 for $300 though...
