Do you have any system for picking US listed dividend paying stocks for a Canadian registered account such as a RIF? Can you share the US stock picks with us?

I would only put US stocks of any kind into a US Dollar portfolio. This is because then you only have to worry about currency fluctuations when you add US dollars to the account and when you remove money from that portfolio.

I see no advantage of using a US stock in a Canadian RIF, TFSA or RRSP. There are many decent Canadian dividend stocks for less money that pay a 5% - 8% Dividend yield.

I am trying to figure out ETF's for my fantasy US portfolio... at first blush they seem to offer pretty good dividends at prices less than $20.

If you want a decent Canadian stock that is listed also on the US market, I would suggest Algonquin Power [NYSE:AQN]... it has a quarterly dividend $0.141USD or 4.34%

As far as a screening system goes for dividend stocks... I do the same pretty much as for all my picks.

I use a screener to find stocks in the range of dividend yield and price range that I want.... check out their revenue/debt then apply my TA to make the final selection.

I will be posting other stocks and ETFs in due time.... But if you have stocks that you want me to look at, post their tickers here and I will offer my comments....
