Of course, you are right about Trump, the tariffs, and China. I was disappointed to see him cave on that. In addition, I don't think tariffs are the best way to confront China either. However, he has limited sticks to use against China, because we are a divided nation. The Democrats and liberals are so focused on their safe spaces, transgender rights, pot legalization, universal basic income, and a host of other non-sense, that they completely ignore the biggest issues of our day. In addition, they are so consumed with hatred and rage against Trump, and of course he stokes that rage, that it makes it impossible for the left and right to get together to tackle big issues like China. What we need is a whole country approach to China that tackles politics, culture, propaganda, Chinese immigration and studies at our university, economics, currency/monetary policy, military, economic, cyber warfare, military in general, technology, etc. We need to have a plan for everything and combat China in every aspect and milieu. But we aren't doing it. Instead, we have Google, the most advanced AI company in the US collaborating with China on AI in China on a campus they jointly built, while refusing to work with the US military. We have Google actively biasing search results to slant everything towards the liberals and undermining political speech in this country, while they are helping China, a Communist Dictatorship that believes in silencing their people and eliminating all freedoms, while implementing a totalitarian social credit system.
This country is a house divided and we are engaged in a circular firing squad, which is destroying ourselves, while China rises. We're in big trouble. If there is one thing that should unite us, it is that China stands for everything we are against and we should be tackling this with everything we have. But since we aren't and can't get united, Trump is doing what he can, which is tariffs. It's not nearly enough, but it's something. I wish we could do more and you are correct, that we should do more and be more strategic. But how can you be strategic with a party that only cares for race baiting and transgender issues? Sheesh. This country has gone completely insane.
As to the market, I'm thinking that buying the dip nowadays is a losing strategy. We're in that stage now where either you trade like you do, or you hunker down and stay safe like I do. You and I have a good chance to win in the coming 1-2 years, but many will get spanked. |
