DIS: One more thought about ETF's .....................................

An ETF is a collection of like minded stocks. Now we (or at least I) are interested in dividend paying investments.

An ETF that pays dividends is usually heavily leaning to dividend paying stocks. However, the ETF is presenting an AVERAGE of everything weighted by the shares that the ETF has in each stock in its collection.... an average price...average dividend (less fees to the manager of the ETF)

That gave me food for thought..............

Say an ETF pays a monthly dividend of say $0.04/share for an annual yield of say 5% (just picking numbers out of the air)

I wonder what the dividends and prices of the constituent stocks are. The top 10 stocks by share of the ETF are easily found.

What an interesting stock screener!!!!

I am going to follow up on this idea and see what shakes out. All stock screeners have pros and cons.... but by looking at the constituents of a successful ETF... can we do better investing in stocks than the ETF itself... both in their distribution and also in their capital gains.

Yes.... let someone else do the picking....sound like a plan to me.

I will have a first assessment on this by the end of the day.
