Another interesting note in the news...
The world's largest producer of gold, Anglo American Corp, announced today that they are making plans to cut production by 17% in 1998.
Anglo producxed 9% of the world's output last year, and said that they
are trying to eliminate production that has been made unprofitable by the slump in gold prices.
The article I read went on to quote Graham Birch, who is the manager of the Mercury Asset Mgmt's $300 million mercury Gold Metal & Open Fund as saying, "What we have here are the seeds for a monumental rally."
