8/23/2019 Contest update One stock market pundit dubbed it “Freaky Friday,” which seems apt given today’s Trump tweets and his recent grandiose declarations. To investors’ distress, judging by today’s stock action, Trump may actually turn out to be the “Chosen One” – a president chosen to preside over a stock market crash. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 9.34% YTD (vs. up 11.28% a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 5.56% YTD (vs. up 8.40% a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 10.09% YTD (vs. up 14.53% a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 16.83% YTD (vs. up 19.00% YTD a week ago). BULBA’s portfolio lost ground as biotechs tumbled but remained Contest leader with a 92.47% YTD gain. ANDRE’s portfolio, up 53.21% YTD, and OHMS’ portfolio, up 51.51% YTD, held on to second and third place. At Friday's close, 27 of the 39 Contest portfolios were still in the green, while 20 were beating the NBI and 19 were beating the SPSIBI. The 167 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 13.84% and, dropping into negative territory, a median YTD loss of -3.54%. Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.) Portfolio adjustments: BLU.TO did a 1-3 reverse split. (All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.) Enjoy a safe & relaxing summer weekend biotechies! Peace & good health, Bulba
