University Of Phoenix Fakes Enrollment Paperwork, Whistleblowers Say

  • University of Phoenix encourages homeless people and others without high school degrees to enroll, filing false paperwork asserting that they have GEDs, employees said.
  • UOP students owed $36 billion in student loans, and many default, leaving taxpayers on the hook, government data show. Only 28% paid down their loan by even $1 three years out of school.
  • Despite the massive drain on federal dollars, the for-profit school has played both political parties to its advantage, saying it helps minorities and is also a free-market alternative to liberal universities.
