Iomega Zip Drive Featured in Four Super Bowl TV Spots

ROY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 1998-- Iomega Invites Viewers to Play to Win in the "I'm-In-It-To-Win-It" and "Disappear to Bermuda" Interactive Sweepstakes

An estimated 100 million viewers in the United States will see a new player in the Super Bowl, Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998.

Iomega(R) Corp. (NYSE:IOM) will run four advertising spots featuring its award-winning Zip(R) drive during Super Bowl programming. Two new spots, entitled "Bermuda Triangle" and "Family Dog," highlight how the Zip drive and disks allow users to create, save and share all their stuff with each other.

These spots will run in conjunction with the Zip Built-In "Condor" ad that focuses on the widespread availability of Zip built into selected models of the world's leading PC manufacturers. Two pre-game, one in-game and one post-game 30-second commercials are scheduled.

The integrated advertising campaign, created by EURO RSCG Dahlin Smith White Partners, will also feature two online contests. Beginning Super Bowl Sunday, visitors to Iomega's web site (www.iomega.com) will have a chance to enter the "Disappear to Bermuda" and the "I'm-In-It-To-Win-It" sweepstakes. Complete rules for both contests can be found on the Iomega website.

"The lively and fun campaign extends Iomega's brand messaging that the Zip drive and disks put you in control of your stuff--from work stuff to school stuff to fun stuff like games--even if you're flying in the Bermuda Triangle where everything mysteriously disappears around you," said Carol Ebert, Iomega's director of global marketing communications.

The "Disappear to Bermuda" sweepstakes, featuring a 5-night/6-day vacation to Bermuda at a luxury resort including meals and entertainment and round-trip transportation, runs through March 31, 1998.

The "I'm-In-It-To-Win-It" sweepstakes, featuring a complete Dell system with Zip Built-In, runs through March 15, 1998. Sweepstakes winners will be announced online and by certified mail. Iomega.com will also feature special promotions with Iomega's retail partners.

"Iomega's Zip Built-In ingredient branding campaign was designed to create consumer loyalty, generate demand for PCs with Zip Built-In, and build upon our success in establishing Zip as the emerging successor to the floppy," said David Henry, Iomega's vice president of worldwide marketing.

"With more than 11 million Zip drives shipped worldwide, the Zip drive is the new standard in high capacity removable storage. Now with the Super Bowl, we have an opportunity to reach an even broader audience, expanding awareness of Zip capacity and uses among consumers."

Iomega's Zip drives can already be found as standard or optional features in selected desktop computers manufactured by the world's leading computer makers including Acer, Apple, ASE, Compaq, Dell, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Micron, Packard Bell/NEC, Sony, UMAX and Unisys.

Iomega also has established relationships with many other notebook computer manufacturers including: Acer, Chicony, Clevo, Compal, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi, Micron, NEC, Sharp and Siemens Nixdorf. These companies have announced plans to offer notebook Zip drives as either standard or optional features in selected notebook models.

In addition, the notebook Zip drive is available from CNF Technologies for notebook computers manufactured by Compaq, IBM and Toshiba; and from VST Technologies for notebook computers manufactured by Apple and IBM.
