I hear you... I have similar qualms.

Do you trade in Canadian stocks or American mainly?? Canadian Stocks have been battered for years now so I think that is why they seem less affected by the China/USA trade war than those on the USA market.

You will notice that in the American/Canadian portfolios in this thread...so far I have stayed away from stocks that would be heavily affected in a negative way by the USA/China fight.

You are right... it is not easy picking stocks right now. I was sort of hoping lookers here would submit ones here that we can thrash ... so far that has not happened much... but I keep hoping :)

I cruise through a variety of stock pickers and see what the net brings up and analyze the results. I use TD Waterhouse as a broker and they have a huge variety of screeners.

Part of the problem is narrowing down your choices as much as you can.... doing a sector search first might help and then looking for best of breed for each sector. I have half - assed tried that with mixed results... very time consuming for an individual to do.
