Got to the range yesterday to sight in new Ruger MPR.

mounted ancient Burris 3x9 4 plex with quick detach mounts.

opened action, removed bcg and looked down the bore to the 50 yard target. Got a penny in the slot and moved cross hairs close to center.

1st shot 6 inches low and one inch right.

adjusted.

2nd shot 3 inches low and one inch right.

Cleaned bore with Hoppe's copper remover.

I always break in barrels by shooting 1 or 2 clean...shot 2 more clean...shoot 5 more and clean....etc until I've run about 10 to 20 rounds through then I clean once every few hundred rounds.

used to use jeweler's rouge to prep/lap bore of varmint rifles in the old days and it seem to work. Bores are better today than they were 45 years ago.

3rd shot 1 inch low and 1 inch right.

adjusted.

Shots 4,5,6 all in same hole with 7 being 1/4 inch higher.

Keep in mind clean and cold bore for most shots.

adjusted.

Shot 8 dead center and 1 inch right.

Adjusted crosshairs left.

Shots 9,10 and 11 all in 1/2 inch center of bull.

All rounds were relatively cheap 55 gr fmjbt white box ammo. Not junk but not match grade.

Rifle trigger is 2 stage and a bit gritty. Let off under 4 lbs or so.

Rifling is 5R and it shows as an enhancement to traditional rifling.

No FTFeed, FTFire or any jambing.

Bolt did not stay open on aluminum mag. Did not try any Magpuls.

I would expect this rifle to shoot reloads with 60 to 69 gr. Sierras using Varget to provide .5 to .75 moa at 100 yards.

Barrel is 18" and has a "brake" that I expected to raise sound. Didn't seem to be an issue.

I'm impressed. For the money, $560, this may be the best buy/performer on the planet.

I also have a match grade DPMS I bought 10 years ago for comparison. Paid more than double over Ruger cost. Trigger is better. Furniture is cheaper. Action is looser. Accuracy is similar.
