Pfizer Declares a 19-Cent First-Quarter Dividend

NEW YORK, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Pfizer Inc (NYSE: PFE - news) today declared a 19-cent
first-quarter dividend on the company's common stock, an approximately 12-percent increase over last year's quarterly dividend,
payable March 12, 1998, to shareholders of record on February 6, 1998.

In 1997, Pfizer's full-year dividend payments, adjusted for the June 1997 two-for-one split of its common stock in the form of a
100-percent stock dividend, totaled $.68 a share, consisting of four quarterly payments of 17 cents each.

The first-quarter 1998 dividend is the 237th consecutive quarterly dividend paid by the company. This year marks the 31st
consecutive year of quarterly dividend increases for Pfizer shareholders.

Pfizer Inc is a research-based health-care company with global operations. In 1997, the company reported revenues of $12.5 billion
and invested more than $1.9 billion in research and development.
